Mother and Child

I'm beginning to profile some drawings I did at the
beginning of the summer when I started my figurative drawing course. Surprising as it may sound, I actually hated drawing prior to this course. I just found it tedious and could never think of anything I wanted to draw. Lame excuses, I know. This course really showed me how to get over those obstacles and now I quite enjoy it. Let's just say I've loosened up a bit.

Today's image is a sketch I did on a TTC bus at the end of what looked like a very long day for this kid with his mom looking on like the benevolent image of Mother Mary looking down as in so many Renaissance paintings I've seen-- it was really too good to pass up. I'm just glad I was able to get it down before my stop came up.
