A quick peek at what I'm currently working on...

It's been pretty quiet here up on the web-blog for a while. That's because I've been working to finish the last couple of major assignments for the classes for this semester. One of my projects is a self-directed home assignment where we have to do a large scale painting of a person utilizing some of the techniques learned of in class. My good friend Lyrea offered to pose yet again for me and I just want to offer up a quick peak at how the project is coming along. Below are some images from the process of developing the painting. I'm utilizing the method I learned of painting my subject in monochrome before adding colours through glazing (see my earlier post on this technique here.)

In the initial stage I gave Lyrea a smurf complex by painting her entirely in blue with no variations in tone or value. I eventually build up all her features by adding white highlights and darker shadows. When I'm finally happy with the modelling of the figure, I move on to glazing, which is the stage I'm currently at. Check back to the blog in a couple of days to see the final result (OR, sign up via email to get updates directly in your inbox via the lovely new feature added by Google, on the right side panel under my bio :)
